5 Useful Applications for a Compact Utility Tractor

John Deere Mower Deck
When it comes to managing your property, it can sometimes be a challenge knowing what machine best fits your needs. John Deere Compact Utility Tractors are unique because they cater to many different applications including: lawn care, landscaping, snow removal, livestock maintenance, food plots and more. Regardless of the size of your property, a compact utility tractor is perfectly fit for versatility to help you get the job done. These tractors range anywhere between 23 and 46 horsepower and are equipped to fit hundreds of attachments and accessories.

What kind of work can a John Deere Compact Utility Tractor accomplish? To help answer this question, we dug into a few applications to show you exactly how flexible these tractors are.

Lawn Care

Lawn maintenance is one of the most popular uses of a compact utility tractor. You want a tractor that can be useful in a variety of ways throughout the season. Compact Utility Tractors have the option of having a drive-over mower deck for mowing. This deck offers easy installation when switching between jobs. Do you need to cut thick grass, weeds or heavy brush in your hunting woods? A rotary cutter attachment is also an option for rougher mowing applications.

Aside from mowing, John Deere offers a 3-point sprayer attachment which is useful throughout the year. It doesn’t matter if you own residential property, have agricultural property to maintain, or are a commercial landscaper. The sprayer attachment is great for fertilization, weed killing, de-icing, watering and more.

Do you need to relieve soil compaction? Compact Utility Tractors also offer aerator attachments to help provide lawn with air, water and nutrients down into the root zone, allowing roots to grow deeper.

John Deere Loader & Backhoe

Landscaping

Whether you are using a tractor for commercial landscaping or residential landscaping, John Deere offers several attachments for landscaping and gardening. Two of the most popular attachments are the John Deere loader and backhoe. Both tools do the heavy lifting for you.

Do you have a large amount of soil or gravel you need to level or backfill? The Box Blade attachment is your best bet. It is most often used for driveways, gardens, building sites and more. Pallet forks are another option that are useful for landscaping, while moving heavy loads to the worksite.

Wood chippers are also a great tool for landscaping and are commonly used for wood reduction, décor, mulch, fire fuel, walkways and more. John Deere offers an attachment that hooks on the rear PTO. This set-up allows you to easily switch to and from your front end attachment while using the wood chipper.

John Deere Snow Removal

Snow Removal

In Wisconsin, snow removal is an absolute must. John Deere Compact Utility Tractors work all year round and can come with the comfort of a heated cab. Depending on the size of the driveway you have or the size of the snowstorm, John Deere offers a large amount of snow removal attachment options. These range from front-end snow blowers and brooms to plows and salters. The loader is also very popular for snow removal because it’s not only excellent in snow but is also an attachment that can be put to work all year round.

John Deere Grapple

Livestock Maintenance

There may be times when a large tractor doesn’t fit into small places around the farm. This could happen within barns or in-between fences. John Deere Compact Utility Tractors are great for spreading manure, transporting hay and moving large objects. All of this can be accomplished using the loader attachment, bale spear, manure spreader and grapple.

The bale spear allows you to replace tines for extended implement life, has a rugged, tubular frame and can be easily installed. It is great for simply moving bales from one location to the next, or rearranging bales to store in tight areas.

John Deere offers manure spreaders that provide versatile spreading action and better cutting coverage than most. They are built very strong for a dependable working life.

The grapple that John Deere offers is excellent for grabbing awkward objects. Again, when working in tight spaces, using a compact utility tractor and grapple allow you to easily grab items while preventing equipment damage that could be possible if using a larger tractor.

Food Plots

Are you looking to plot food pastures in your hunting woods? John Deere Compact Utility Tractors have a Food Plot Seeder attachment that will do all the work for you. With this one machine, you can disk, cultivate, seed, cover the seed and level the seedbed. John Deere also offers attachments that allow you to do each of these tasks individually if you want something even more compact.

As you can see, John Deere Compact Utility Tractors are very versatile and can accomplish many things, regardless of what the task is. Are you interested in learning more?
