Nice machine But.....

4/5

Wow what a great machine . The price is high but compared to others I guess its normal . Complaints 1 the machine is to low and bottoms out easy with shocks all the way up, 2 The blower should have a lower speed... blows a lot on 1 , 3 The seat should come in vinyl not just cloth . 4 the engine brake is a little slow on this compared to our 825 r . But it does go faster so it don't bother me , 5 the ac unit tubes are in wheel well with no protective shield on them ,Im afraid something is going to kick up an tear tubes off . Now the good The sound is 1/3 of what the 825r was its a lot quieter . 2 the AC is ice cold. can you say AWESOME . 3 the seat is nice with 3 seat belts . 4 Tons of room don't feel as cramped as 825r .5 the wiper stroke is a lot wider on windshield .6 the doors are awesome with windows roll up an down . I LOVE THIS Machine but the price is way to high but then again you get what you pay for. I don't regret this one bit . WE use the heck out of this machine. I know it will last for years Just a honest review from a country boy.

Pros

  • lots of room an ac ice cold

Cons

  • pricey

This is my 4th Gator

5/5

But first one with an enclosed cab. I was wondering if the HVAC was going to work - works great, gets cold fast, haven't used the heat yet. THe doors seal up completely and it is a lot quieter than my old gators. I've got the R model so I have the cloth interior and that is great. The additional leg room and space for 3rd person is alot better, my dog thanks you!

Pros

  • larger cab
  • hvac
  • fit and finish

Cons

  • got a small noise coming from drive probably need

This product needs a REDESIGNed bed.

3/5

My biggest complaint with the 835r is that the tires are wider than the bed. Consequently, the tires are constantly throwing mud, snow, water, etc. all over the back of the cab, rear window, and cab door seal. It would be really nice John deere would design a fix for this and offer it to existing gator owners. Lord knows we paid for it at point of purchase!

Best I’ve ever had xuv835r

5/5

I’ve heard all the negative and can’t confirm any of it. Rides smooth, no wind noise. The unit is very impressive. Engine is vey smooth and well balanced. My complaints (if any) would be petty. Wouldn’t trade it for anything else on the market.

Love the heat and A/C

5/5

I have had this machine a year now. I added a snow blade which I have used in Iowa this winter. The machine works well. I wish it had power windows. Overall, I would recommend this XUV835R any day.

835r is a Great Machine, Better then I could have imagined

4/5

Really enjoy the great air conditioning and heat . The cab is very nice except have had a lot of adjustments to try and eliminate the wind noise. JD needs to figure out a better air cleaner design as I have replaced 4 in the last year. Have owned for exactly 1 year. Had two 825i before this and no problem !!! Fills up with dust real quick !!!

Great Machine

5/5

I’ve had my 835R for about 4 months and I absolutely love it. The factory installed cab far out performs all of the competition. I researched all of the competitors to make sure I wasn’t missing anything before I purchased the 835R. To be sure I drove a demo unit before I purchased. The HVAC system in the cab is fantastic and has an actual automotive style control for fan speed, air direction output and temperature. No other machine I looked at had this same style control. Some competitors have HVAC but require you to close and open multiple vents to get air where you need it. The AC is very cold. So cold in fact that even on warm days if you’re working in the machine you will want to change the temperature to blend a little warm air with the AC. Same with the heat. The heat will quickly and effectively warm the cab. Also gone are the days of steamed up windows on wet fall days. With the AC on and the air directed to defrost, your windows will never fog up. The fan is more than powerful enough to move air in the cabin and keep all the windows clear. The HVAC system serves another purpose and that is to pressurize the cab. When I’m not using my Gator for work I will take it on the trail. Some trails can prove to be dusty and even with the cab on my 825 I would find sand had crept in and settle on your clothes etc. With the windows closed and the HVAC system on the air pressure is positive inside the 835R and the dirt is driven away and kept out of the cab. You will still get some dust in very dry dusty environments but nothing major. With a cloth headliner, cloth seats and sun visors this Gator is quiet and comfortable. The build quality on my machine is excellent. I have had no problems with the door seals, engine or any components. The only drawback is the width. The 835R is 69” wide. Wide for some trails with 65” limits. I find the trade off is worth it however since I use the machine primarily for work around the ranch.

Pros

  • large roomy interior
  • plenty of leg and storage room in the cab
  • power dump bed
  • plenty of power
  • quieter than the previous gators
  • hvac system is perfect

Cons

  • width of 835r with cab is 69” wide for trails

Deere needs to work out the bugs

2/5

At first glance my 835r is a nice looking machine the trouble begins with the build quality. From the moment it was delivered there was wind noise around each door. After several adjustments it was decided the doors are too flimsy to hold a seal at the top of each side. One of the first things that happened was the window regulator crank fell off the right side within 30 minutes of taking delivery. The installation of turn signals additional lights and radio should be pretty straight-forward with the already installed wiring harnesses. Although the wiring harnesses sound like a good idea the cab has to be practically disassemble to find the ends do use. All of the instructions that came with any of the add-on accessories are worthless since none of them have been written for the 835r. The instructions only have value for the 8:25 and the components don't resemble one another. Before buying one of these Gators you should consider very carefully waiting until Deere gets their act together.

Pros

  • nice looks

Cons

  • not ready for the market
  • wiring harness is a nightmare
  • fit and finish leave a lot to be desired

Very good

4/5

Have wore out two drive shafts in the six years that I have owned my 825i gator. Very costly to replace. I think it needs to be a lot stronger. Other than that, the only other thing is that it is very hard to change the oil. Hopefully they have made some improvements in the last 6 years. They are really fun to have around the farm.

Pros

  • strong

Cons

  • expensive
