Has met all expectations

5/5

Bought the 350R two years ago have used it extensively for mowing, general yard work, and fall leaf collection. Bagging system is especially convenient for fall leaf pickup, as it mulches the leaves, reducing the volume, bags them and then drops them in a pile on the ground for easy pickup. The machine has plenty of power for mowing and fall clean-up. Rear bagging allows mowing close to trees without ripping the chute of the side of the tractor.

Pros

  • rear bagging system

Cons

  • cannot buy an all weather cab

Cean cutting and excellent leaf pickup

5/5

I had some concerns when I saw reviews complaining about the discharge chute clogging. I found that after getting the proper adjustment on the "bagger full" alarm for the grass or leaf conditions you are dealing with, and shutting the mower deck down immediately when the alarm goes off, the chute never clogs. I am extremely pleased with the performance, quality and user friendly features of this machine and rate it very highly performance wise.

I bought the X350R in April of 2019. The rear bagging system is terrible due to the fact that most of the grass blows out the sides of the bagging system. The entire unit is poorly constructed and it is not worth the amount of money paid. John Deere should stop selling this unit because it doesn't live up to John Deere standards.

My X300R reliably delivers an excellent cut with power and efficiency

5/5

I've had my X300R since Spring of 2015 and am convinced I made the right choice. The lawn looks great in the spring, summer and fall with the versatility of bagging the clippings or broadcasting them with the rear discharge chute. I usually bag the clippings and empty them onto tarps I've laid down on the driveway. When I'm done (2 or 3 loads later), I wrap them up and sling them into the cargo area in the back of my van and haul them to our town's compost area. So slick and the lawn always looks so good. Very pleased, very satisfied!

Great engine and mower; bad bagger system

3/5

I would give this unit a 5 star if only the bagging system worked as advertised. I have this unit one grass mowing season. Love the lawn tractor with John Deere quality. Its the bagger system that ruins the over all rating for this model. The first bag full works excellent as it should. But, after dumping the first load of cut grass one must remove the bagger, dump the inner pick up tube of grass and take a rod or rake handle and clear the bottom part of the collection tube of grass, put the plastic tube back in and replace the rear bagger before you continue cutting. This process takes place after every bagful. It defies logic why after dumping the first load one can't drop the bagger and go back to cutting?

Impressive performer

4/5

I bought this rather specialized tractor especially for its bagging features and the fact that it fits through a 48-inch gate even with the bagger attached. It took some trial-and-error experience to get the settings and capabilities understood...which mower height is best for mulching, which for picking up leaves, should I mulch the leaves first, etc. Now that I've got those things dialed in I'm super pleased. I did clog the chute a few times with leaves at first. Now that I better understand its capabilities clogging is no longer an issue. If you have a hilly yard, though, beware that the bagger has a wide, low overhang off the back and can drag and disconnect during a short transition from downhill to uphill, like at a swale. But, I'm, say it again, super pleased.

Pros

  • adaptability
  • ruggedness

Cons

  • clogging if not careful

Rear Hopper Disappointment

3/5

What a disappointment the rear hopper is on this mower??? THE HOPPER CONTINUOUSLY OVER FILLS , the micro switch that triggers the hopper full sensor has a void area around it when mowing, therefore no pressure is applied to the switch the hopper over fills, then you have to remove the hopper and remove and clear the chute.

Cut time cut in half!

5/5

After buying the X350R and understanding the works, this mower is not only convenient to use but saves time and gas. My old LX173 burned 3-1/2 gallons to cut the yard. Now I use just under 2 gallons and save over an hour in time cutting with the X350R. Just as a reminder clean it after every use and you get rewarded by using it.The bag filled buzzer is a little touchy but understand your lawn and the mower makes it a pleasure.
